Paul Jackson // Othila: updates and announcements

As well as the creative graphic design showcased on the design page of this site, I also work with a number of musicians, artists and record labels, helping them to realise their own ideas in print, or simply to get their work ship-shape ready for production. The best-known such work to the majority of those who visit this site will probably be that which I have done for/with Current 93/David Tibet but I have also worked on many releases by Nurse With Wound.

Subhumans back catalogue reissues, 2008In 2008 I put together the artwork for the remastered CDs and LPs of the Subhumans’ back catalogue. Click on the image to the left to view a larger version.

Continuing with the anarcho punk connection, over the last couple of years or so I have been working on the reissues of the Crass back catalogue.

Crass back catalogue reissuesI can’t claim any credit for their suberb design and typography (courtesy of Gee Vaucher [aka G Sus] and Christian Brett), although I have done an enormous amount of uncredited ‘behind the scenes’ work on them: both on initial planning and packaging design and also in the later artworking and pre-production stages.

Steve Ignorant with Steve Pottinger: The rest is propaganda bookIn late 2010 I worked on my first ever book cover, for ex-Crass vocalist Steve Ignorant’s autobiography. Steve came up with the concept, which is an homage to, and pastiche of, the cover of a film (or was it a book? I’m not sure).

I have also had a hand in the production of artwork for many, many other releases by a multitude of bands and labels, some well known, some less so and some so obscure that even their members are only dimly aware of ever having being involved.

I am currently on the lookout for new organisations with whom to work: particularly established independent record labels. If by any chance anyone from such an organisation is reading this, and you are looking for graphic design, layout or artworking services, please use the form on my contact page to get in touch. Your geographical location and the style(s) of music which you release are immaterial. I look forward to hearing from you!
