October 2011 saw the launch of a new website for double Carnegie award-winning children’s author Berlie Doherty. This replaces an ancient static HTML site which I made for her back in 2001–2002.
Berlie has written an enormous amount of books over the years, many of which have been translated into a plethora of languages and published in countries all over the world. The main focus of the site is Berlie’s newsletter, which appears a few times a year and which details her recent, current and forthcoming activities. This typically includes details of new and republished books along with other news such as public engagements, which are often undertaken in connection with her current stint as the county of Derbyshire’s ‘reading champion’. Additionally, there are letters from schoolchildren and occasionally a competition!
The site includes an enormous amount of background information on Berlie and her writings which will be of use to children and teachers alike.
As well as the site’s design, I am also responsible for managing and updating content.
